It’s also worth getting at least 1 scratching post for each cat, on the internet you can get very good prices. If you have the space, get 2 scratching posts per cat and spread them around their territory. Declawing should not be done at all. The same with litter boxes – 1 per cat again. In the past we’ve had friendly cats, timid cats & aggressive cats – each has their own personalities.

My cat hissed at my dad. Will they be able to stay together anymore?

Beatrix, it’s hard to say why he’s doing those things without seeing the cat in person for an examination. We can’t give out medical advice online; it’s actually illegal in some cases to do so. That said, the best person to ask is your vet.

You should really ask your cat’s veterinarian. We can’t provide medical advice online. Your veterinarian can examine your cat and talk to you about her behavior.

I also know a cat that stops swallowing while being pet, might be a bit of mental retardation. the headbutting is a show of affection. No idea about the toilet, but I hear they prefer to drink far away from their food bowl.

Is your cat microchipped? Does she have a collar and tag? There are no guarantees that she’ll come back, but if your cat has collar, tag, and microchip, it’s more likely she’ll be found and returned to you.

Great advice AmerVetMedAssn my cat Smoggy often likes some privacy. She likes to jump onto my back and hop into a high up cupboard in the mornings. I then leave a chair for her to jump out when she is ready to be more social – usually after a few hours.

Per the California Veterinary Medical Association, in response to a question about brushing and bathing cats: “It’s not critical to brush short-haired cats, but long-haired cats need frequent brushing to prevent mats that can become severe. You’ll be happy to know that cats don’t usually require baths—you keep yourselves pretty clean on your own!”

My cat does things that I don’t get. When I pet him, he often starts drooling and seems like he tries to get as much saliva on me as possible. Also he always headbutts me violently, sometimes so hard that I’m surprised he hasn’t got himself a concussion yet. It doesn’t bother me, I’m just curious. Oh and he always has fresh water, but doesn’t want to drink it. He has several bowls, but he prefers rain water or the toilet (if he manages to sneak in). Can someone tell me why he does these things?
